"The Horse and His Boy" by C.S. Lewis

"I was the lion who forced you to join with Aravis. I was the cat who comforted you among the tombs. I was the lion who drove the jackals from you while you slept. I was the lion who gave the horses the new strength of fear for the last mile so that you should reach King Lune in time. And I was the lion you do not remember who pushed the boat in which you lay, a child near death, so that it came to shore where a man sat, wakeful at night, to receive you."

One of the lions in Piazza della Signoria in Florence.
It's how I imagine Aslan to be.

Today.

-1°C.
Blue sky.
Did the school run with David Bowie on the radio.
Could I ask for anything more?

Let them eat cake.

My friend brought this over yesterday.
It wasn't just chocolatey, rich and creamy. It also had liquor in it.
No need to point out there's none left today...

The Chronicles of Narnia- The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis

"The Magician's Nephew" was written years after all the other Chronicles but it was meant to be read first as a prequel.
It tells about the Creation of Narnia, and how Evil entered it.
There's a tree, a beautifully fragrant apple that is good for the pure of heart but bad for wicked ones. Because when you take something that doesn't belong to you yet, it usually leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.
There's various tests, trips between different worlds, friendship, generosity, and the idea that when one chooses to be loyal and yealding things will go well.
A great lesson not just for children but for adults too.

A juicy apple from my dad's tree.
